“Dangerous path…”, Expert alerts Trump over US-India economic ties amid Russia-Ukraine War

Aug 13, 2025

Boston (US), August 13, 2025(ANI): International Security expert and Associate Prof of Political Science at Northeastern University, Max Abrahms said, "... if something is bad for the Indian economy, it is also not good for the US economy... It is in the interest of the US for Indian economic growth to continue pace..." He said, "Russian war is connected to US-India relations because a lot of current problems from the perspective of Washington is the Indian purchasing oil from Russia... I am hoping for a breakthrough in those conversations because it may set US and India back on the correct course. I am also paying attention to the quad relations between the US, India, Japan and Australia because that alliance is seen as crucial for counter-balancing against China... On top of that, if something is bad for the Indian economy, it is also not good for the US economy... It is in the interest of the US for Indian economic growth to continue pace. This is a basic concept poorly understood by elements in the Trump administration. They think America could seal itself off from the rest of the world and become economically independent or push for symmetry in trade relations, but that is a dangerous path and could have a negative impact on the financial system, as well as the defence military ties."
