Woman killed as powerful earthquake strikes off Indonesia: Local media

Jakarta [Indonesia], April 3: A 70-year-old woman has been killed after a powerful earthquake rattled Indonesia on Thursday morning, local media reported.
A 7.4-magnitude earthquake struck at 5:48am (2248 GMT Wednesday) between northern Sulawesi and the North Molucca Islands, around 127 kilometres west of Ternate, at a depth of about 35 kilometres, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) said.
The woman was hit by falling debris, local media reported citing rescue workers in Manado, a city in the north of Sulawesi island.
Another person was injured, breaking their leg when jumping out a building, it said.
Several buildings were damaged in Manado including part of a sports complex, which partially collapsed, the National Disaster Management Agency said. A number of houses and a church also sustained light to moderate damage, it added. (DPA)
