Hanoi [Vietnam], April 11: "After having children and experiencing more of life, I find that my singing is more heartfelt, profound, and I understand the songs better," singer Nhu Hao shared.
One of the cherished mementos in Nhu Hao's life is a time-worn black-and-white photograph taken when she was just 5 years old, attending kindergarten. Looking at this moment, the 70s-era singer fondly remembers the time her mother single-handedly struggled to raise four sisters.
She confided, "I didn't understand when I was little, but now that I think about it, I realize how much my mother had to save and economize to take all four of us sisters to have our photos taken. It's a deeply memorable experience in my life."
The second memento is a photograph capturing Nhu Hao's first trip to the sea with her siblings. As the youngest child in the family, the singer admits that she was the most pampered and protected. Therefore, she hardly had to experience the hardships of life in her younger years thanks to her mother's sacrifices and the support of her older siblings. As Hảo shared, her passion for singing was kindled in her from a young age through children's programs on television. In 11th grade, the singer decided to leave her hometown of Tây Ninh and move to Ho Chi Minh City to study both academics and vocal music under the guidance of musician Xuân Hồng.
Nhu Hao's greatest fortune is receiving unwavering support from her family. She emotionally revealed: "My mother loved to sing, but my maternal grandfather wouldn't let her. When she got married, my father was also a talented musician and singer. Because my mother couldn't achieve her dream, she let her daughter fulfill it for her." Nhu Hao further confided that the image of her father showing off his daughter on television to the whole neighborhood was a huge motivation on her artistic journey at that time.
The current life of singer Nhu Hao
Sharing about her current life, Nhu Hao admitted that her singing style has changed significantly over time. She confided: "After having children and experiencing more of life, I find that my singing is more heartfelt, profound, and I understand the songs better." Although young people tend to listen to more foreign music, the quiet feedback and support from her children remain a positive source of energy that helps her maintain her passion for her profession.
For Nhu Hao, her current singing voice is not just about technique, but the culmination of her love for her homeland, family, and the experiences of a mature woman who has gone through many ups and downs.
The singer said she has just finished recording and filming 10 songs by the late composer Bac Son, including works that are not yet widely known such as "Dem Ba Lai Nghe Cau Ho Xe San" and "Con De Men"... This project is not only a tribute to the talented composer but also a way for Nhu Hao to express her love for her roots and homeland - things that always hold a special place in her heart no matter where she is.
Nhu Hao won first prize in the 1992 Ho Chi Minh City Television Singing Contest . Afterward, she continued to impress audiences with a series of songs such as " The Sulking Girl," "Autumn Afternoon Missing Mother," etc., thanks to her sweet voice and radiant stage presence.
