Venezuelan military pledges loyalty to Maduro

Caracas [Venezuela], August 8: "We strongly reject desperate and provocative approaches aimed at destroying the unity and institutions of the country, they will never succeed," Mr. Padrino stressed.
Padrino's statement came after opposition candidate Edmundo Gonzalez and leader Maria Corina Machado called on members of the Venezuelan armed forces to stand with the people. After President Maduro announced his re-election for a third term, a wave of protests spread across Venezuela and several countries voiced their rejection of the election results.
