US to negotiate with China in S Korea

Beijing [China], May 12: Representatives from China and the US are set to meet for a round of negotiations to resolve their trade dispute ahead of US President Donald Trump's planned trip to Beijing this week, the Ministry of Commerce in Beijing announced on Monday.
The ministry said that Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng would travel to the South Korean capital with a delegation from Tuesday to Wednesday.
US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent confirmed the meeting on social media platform X. Bessent said that he would set off on Monday "for a quick series of meetings in both Japan and South Korea." He said that he plans to meet with Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi in Tokyo on Tuesday to discuss bilateral economic relations.
