US and Russia plan new prisoner exchange: Kremlin

Moscow [Russia], May 20: Russia and the United States are planning to exchange nine prisoners each as part of a new swap agreement, according to the Kremlin.
Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump discussed the deal during a phone call on Monday, Kremlin foreign policy adviser Yuri Ushakov told the Interfax news agency.
Despite ongoing political tensions, Moscow and Washington continue to carry out prisoner exchanges.
"This is an important humanitarian initiative," Ushakov said. The Kremlin adviser described the conversation between the two leaders as constructive and open, adding that it lasted two hours and five minutes.
