Ugandan army kills 242 rebels in eastern Congo during its recent operations

Kampala [Ugandan], March 23: The Ugandan army said on Saturday that it has killed 242 rebels in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo during its recent operations.
The CODECO militia in the province of Ituri had attacked Ugandan units in the village of Fataki, but had been repulsed, the military reported. One Ugandan soldier was killed. Local sources confirmed that there had been fighting, with numerous bodies of dead rebels found over the past few days.
Uganda's army is deployed in the area in eastern Congo to prevent the spread of Ugandan ADF rebels fleeing a military offensive. The Congolese CODECO militia has allied itself with the Ugandan Islamist militia.
