Tunisian president sacks economy minister

Tunis [Tunisia], October 18: Tunisian President Kais Saied on Tuesday ended the duties of Tunisian Minister of Economy and Planning Samir Saied, according to a statement issued by the presidency.
The statement did not specify the reason for the dismissal.
"Saied has appointed Minister of Finance SihemBoughdiriNemsia as interim Minister of Economy and Planning," added the statement.
66-year-old Samir Saied was appointed as Minister of Economy and Planning in Oct. 2021, in the government of NajlaBoudenRomdhane who was removed from her post as prime minister on Aug. 1, 2023.
In recent months, the president has ordered the dismissal of several ministers, including a foreign minister.
