Tel Aviv [Israel], October 8: Israel announced on October 7 that Hezbollah had launched rockets at Haifa, Israel's third largest city. In addition, Israel on October 7 announced statistics related to its military campaign in Gaza over the past year against Hamas forces. Over the past year, Israel bombed thousands of targets, discovered 4,700 tunnels and destroyed 1,000 Hamas rocket launchers. Israel also eliminated 8 Hamas brigade commanders in Gaza, about 30 battalion commanders and 165 company commanders over the past year. Meanwhile, Hamas is still holding more than 100 Israeli hostages.
Speaking on October 6, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu affirmed that Israel "will win" on the fronts with Hamas in Gaza, Hezbollah in Lebanon and Iran. Israeli army chief Herzi Halevi said that Tel Aviv had defeated Hamas' military branch and dealt a heavy blow to Hezbollah. Meanwhile, former Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal told Al Arabiya television on October 7 that the group had brought Israel back to "ground zero."

Hamas' chief negotiator Khalil al-Hayya stressed that all Palestinians are "writing a new history", while criticizing Israel for deliberately delaying and sabotaging discussions to end the Hamas-Israel conflict.
