Canberra [Australia], March 16: The government of South Australia (SA) has announced it will provide additional humanitarian support to people who arrive in the state from war-torn countries.
Peter Malinauskas, premier of SA, on Friday unveiled a new package that will give people fleeing conflicts access to additional housing, education and medical support in SA.
Under the state government-funded package, humanitarian visa holders will be eligible for waivers of international student fees and public hospital costs, free public transport, grocery vouchers, support to cover bonds and early rental payments and assisted access to disability support services.
Australia's federal government has capped the number of available places in the country's humanitarian visa program in 2023-24 at 20,000.
