Dec 07, 2025

Ljubljana [Slovenia], December 7: Slovenian police have detained a Croatian national suspected of killing his pregnant wife and seriously injuring her sister in a shooting incident in northern Croatia, authorities said on Saturday.
The 40-year-old suspect was apprehended on Saturday in the municipality of Crensovci, near the Slovenian-Croatian border, after a joint search operation by police from both countries, Bojan Rous, chief investigator at the Murska Sobota Police Department, told reporters.
According to Croatian police, the man allegedly opened fire on Thursday evening at a house in Mursko Sredisce, a Croatian town close to the border. The suspect's wife, a mother of three, later died in the hospital, while her sister remains in serious condition.
Slovenian police issued a public notice with the suspect's description and photograph, which Rous said played a key role in locating the fugitive. A resident recognised the man and alerted the police.
Slovenia has informed the Croatian side of the arrest and expects extradition proceedings to begin shortly, police said.
