Singapore reports 5,923 new COVID-19 cases

Singapore, October 6: Singapore reported 5,923 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, bringing the total tally to 1,930,062.
Of the new cases, 562 were detected through PCR (polymerase chain reaction) tests and 5,361 through ART (antigen rapid test) tests, according to statistics released by the Ministry of Health.
Among the PCR cases, 536 were local transmissions and 26 were imported cases. Among the ART cases with mild symptoms and assessed to be of low risk, there were 5,172 local transmissions and 189 imported cases.
A total of 330 cases are currently warded in hospitals, with 11 in intensive care units.
Wednesday saw no new deaths from COVID-19. The total death toll by far is 1,624.
