Russian warship group concludes visit to Cambodia's Ream naval base

Moscow [Russia], May 2: A group of three warships of the Russian Navy visited Cambodia for 4 days to strengthen the friendship, solidarity and cooperation between the navy and the peoples of the two countries.
The Khmer Times newspaper reported on May 2 that three warships of the Russian Navy have just concluded a four-day goodwill visit to Cambodia, leaving the country's waters safely.
The ships, commanded by Rear Admiral Aleksei Antsiferov, commander of Russia's Pacific Fleet Warship Division, docked in Sihanoukville in Preah Sihanouk province from April 28 to May 1.
According to Cambodian media, the main purpose of the visit is to strengthen friendship, solidarity and cooperation between the navy, the Cambodian people and the Russian Federation.
As they left the port in Cambodia on May 1, the Russian warships were escorted by senior officials from Cambodia's Ream Naval Base, headed by Rear Admiral Choun Thy, deputy commander of the base.
During its stay in Cambodia, the Russian delegation participated in a number of activities aimed at promoting closer bilateral relations. These included social meetings with Cambodian officials such as Governor Preah Sihanouk, Mayor of Sihanoukville, Director General of Sihanoukville Port, Commander of Ream Naval Base and senior officials of the Cambodian Ministry of National Defense.
The group also spent time exploring Cambodia's cultural heritage, visiting the Royal Palace and the National Museum in Phnom Penh, among other places.
In addition, Russian Navy servicemen participated in friendly sports matches with their counterparts from the Cambodian Navy. According to the Cambodian side, these activities emphasize the role of sports in promoting solidarity and fitness in the military context.
This visit is considered an important step in strengthening military diplomacy and promoting international cooperation between Cambodia and the Russian Federation.
