Russia sees increased danger from Western arms exports to Ukraine

Moscow [Russia],February 1: Russia is facing increased military danger from Ukraine because NATO countries are sending weapons there, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told his Egyptian counterpart on Tuesday.
At a meeting with Egyptian Foreign Minister SamihZhukri in Moscow, Lavrov said Russia's armed forces would do everything to ensure that the West's plans in Ukraine did not work out.
"We are taking the necessary measures not to allow Ukraine to become an even greater threat to our security," Lavrov said of recent promises of sophisticated tank deliveries to Ukraine from key NATO nations.
Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24 and has destroyed large swaths of the country, including key civilian infrastructure like power and water facilities. It has also killed more than 7,000 civilians according to the United Nations. (dpa)
