Portuguese new government sworn in

Lisbon [Portugal], April 3: Luis Montenegro, president of Portugal's Social Democratic Party (PSD), officially took office as prime minister on Tuesday, following the legislative elections held on March 10.
Seventeen ministers were also sworn in to form the 24th Constitutional government of Portugal at a ceremony held at the Ajuda Palace in the capital Lisbon.
In his inaugural address, Montenegro outlined key priorities, including the urgent need for healthcare system reforms. He also emphasized his plan to engaging in dialogue with all parliamentary parties for "an ambitious agenda" to tackle corruption.
Montenegro stressed the importance of improved communication between the State, citizens, and businesses, as well as within the government itself.
Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa expressed solidarity and pledged cooperative support to the new government.
The Council of Ministers of the new government is set to convene for its first meeting on Wednesday.
