Warsaw [Poland], February 25: The Prime Minister of Poland, Mateusz Morawiecki, said today that his country has delivered four Leopard tanks of the latest generation to Ukraine.
Morawiecki told reporters in Kiev that the tanks had already arrived in Ukraine and that the delivery was not just promised on paper.
According to him, Poland will soon deliver more Leopards to Ukraine, as well as a certain number of upgraded T-72 tanks from the Soviet era.
President of Poland Andrzej Duda said earlier today before the National Security Council that he is happy because Poland is the first country to deliver upgraded tanks to Ukraine.
Poland has promised Ukraine 14 German-made Leopard 2 tanks, and Germany itself will deliver as many more.
Meanwhile, the Swedish government has promised to send up to 10 Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine.
Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristensen said at a press conference today that this was done after Germany promised to send the tanks to Ukraine last month and gave approval to other Western countries to do it.
Sweden intends to donate parts of its Hawk and Iris anti-aircraft systems to Ukraine.
