Pilot killed in light aircraft crash in S. Africa's Bloemfontein

Johannesburg [South Africa], January 3: A pilot was killed Friday morning when a light aircraft crashed south of Bloemfontein, South Africa's judicial capital, local authorities said.
The Aeronautical Rescue Coordination Center (ARCC), which coordinates aeronautical emergencies across South Africa, was alerted to the incident and immediately dispatched emergency response teams to the scene.
Upon arrival, rescuers found the pilot, the sole occupant of the aircraft, had died, according to the ARCC.
Details regarding the aircraft type and the circumstances leading to the crash have not yet been released. The South African Police Service and the South African Civil Aviation Authority's Accident and Incident Investigations Division will conduct a formal investigation to determine the cause.
