MoCI launches 5 new digital intellectual property services

Apr 06, 2026

Doha [Qatar], April 6: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) has launched five new electronic services in the field of intellectual property through its website, bringing the total number of IP services available online to seven. This comes as part of its ongoing efforts to simplify procedures, improve service quality, and advance digital transformation.
The newly introduced services include: applying for a certificate of deposit and protection for copyright and related rights, requesting a "to whom it may concern" certificate, obtaining an extract of a copyright and related rights certificate, modifying an existing copyright application, and requesting the transfer of ownership for a copyright deposit certificate.
The ministry clarified that beneficiaries of copyright services include poets, researchers, novelists and screenwriters, composers and music arrangers, as well as artists, designers, architects, and developers of software and applications.
As for related rights, beneficiaries include performers such as singers, actors, and musicians, in addition to producers of sound recordings and radio and television broadcasting organisations.
This step reflects the ministry's push to strengthen the country's intellectual property framework while accelerating the digitization of its services-aligning with its broader strategy to improve government service delivery through innovation, better user experience, and more efficient, flexibledigital systems.
