Oct 04, 2025

Mexico City [Mexico], October 4: Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum on Thursday demanded the "immediate repatriation" of six Mexicans Israeli authorities took into custody after intercepting a flotilla that attempted to deliver aid to Gaza.
Sheinbaum confirmed the number during her regular press conference, saying that they are being held in the port of Ashdod.
The detained activists on board the Global Sumud Flotilla have yet to receive consular support. Israeli authorities have said "they are going to take them to a detention center," said Sheinbaum, but the Mexican Consulate is there "to support whatever is needed."
Sheinbaum demanded that humanitarian aid reach the Palestinians and "this aggression against Gaza be stopped."
"The Foreign Affairs Ministry will continue to promptly follow up on this unfortunate event, ensuring the rights of the detained compatriots and seeking, through all possible legal and diplomatic means, their prompt return to our country," the ministry added.
