Libya, Oman discuss strengthening energy, investment cooperation

Tripoli [Libya], November 12: Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, prime minister of Libya's UN-recognized Government of National Unity (GNU), met here with Oman's Ambassador to Tunisia Hilal al-Sanani on Tuesday to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation in energy and investment.
During the meeting, al-Sanani expressed Oman's keenness to strengthen economic ties with Libya and support partnerships between institutions of both countries for joint investment, the government's Hakomitna news platform said on Facebook.
For his part, Dbeibah affirmed the government's readiness to facilitate procedures that will strengthen bilateral partnership and create new opportunities for integration between the two countries, Hakomitna said.
The meeting marks continued efforts to strengthen ties between Libya and Oman, whose diplomatic mission left Libya in 2014 due to security concerns but has maintained engagement through visits and meetings.
Since the fall of former leader Muammar Gaddafi in 2011, Libya has been split between two rival governments -- the Tripoli-based GNU led by Dbeibah, and the eastern-based administration appointed by the House of Representatives and headed by Osama Hammad.
