Laos reports 489 road accidents with 62 killed in September

Vientiane [Laos], October 11: A total of 62 people were killed in 489 road accidents in Laos in September, according to a report issued by Lao Ministry of Public Security on Monday.
According to the report, 750 people were injured and 831 vehicles were damaged in road accidents across the country in September.
Lao capital Vientiane saw the highest number of road accidents at 116, followed by Savannakhet at 62 and 61 in Champasak province.
The number of road accidents across the country increased in September compared to statistics for August.
In August, there were 438 accidents across the country, with 58 people killed, 732 injured and 798 vehicles damaged.
The major causes of road accidents in Laos are speeding, drunk driving, drivers' suddenly changing of direction, and general violation of traffic regulations, according to the report.
