IOM warns of cholera outbreak in South Sudan's Upper Nile State

Geneva [Switzerland], November 6: The International Organization for Migration (IOM) announced today that it is intensifying its response to the cholera outbreak in the Renk area of the Upper Nile State in South Sudan, which serves as a primary entry point for hundreds of thousands fleeing the situation in Sudan.
In a statement issued in Geneva, the organisation noted that the Ministry of Health in South Sudan declared an outbreak after confirming six cases in Renk, with the situation remaining critical as 59 suspected cases have been reported.
The IOM warned of the disease's spread and emphasised that ongoing support from the international community is crucial to prevent the situation from worsening.
