France's La Poste halts goods parcel service to U.S. amid new tariffs

Aug 23, 2025

Paris [France], August 23: France's national postal service, La Poste, announced Friday that it will suspend goods parcel service to the United States starting Aug. 25, except for express shipping, due to U.S. tariffs on European imports.
In a notice on its website, La Poste said the suspension follows a U.S. executive order introducing significant changes to customs procedures, effective Aug. 29, 2025.
Under the new rules, all goods will be subject to U.S. tariffs, whereas previously items valued under 800 U.S. dollars were duty-free.
La Poste stated that its service will continue for documents and gifts sent by individuals valued at up to 80 euros (100 dollars).
The postal operator added that it will make every effort to resume full parcel shipments as soon as possible in compliance with the updated U.S. regulations.
