Former Dutch PM van Agt dies at 93

The Hague [Netherlands], February 10: Former Dutch Prime Minister Dries van Agt died on Monday at the age of 93, knowledge center The Rights Forum announced on Friday.
Van Agt died in his hometown of Nijmegen at a time of his choosing, along with his wife Eugenie van Agt-Krekelberg, also aged 93. A private funeral was held.
In recent years van Agt and his wife had struggled with fragile health. After more than 70 years together, the couple died hand in hand, The Rights Forum said.
A member of the political party Christian Democratic Appeal, van Agt was prime minister of the Netherlands from 1977 until the end of 1982, leading three governments. As honorary chairman and founder of The Rights Forum, he had supported human rights and the Palestinian peace cause in recent years.
