Electoral body confirms Abinader's re-election as president of the Dominican Republic

Panama City [Panama], May 26: The Central Electoral Board of the Dominican Republic on Saturday made official the results of the May 19 general elections that grant incumbent President Luis Abinader a new four-year term.
The election authorities announced in a resolution that Abinader and his running mate, Raquel Pena, were elected president and vice president, respectively, with 2,507,297 valid votes, accounting for 57.44 percent of the vote.
About 8.1 million voters were eligible to participate in the general elections.
