Drone strikes cause power outages in Russia, Ukraine

Nov 10, 2025

Russia [Moscow], November 10: Several regions in Russia have sounded air-raid alarms and reported power and heating outages due to Ukrainian drone and missile strikes.
In the Belgorod region, which borders Ukraine to the west, Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said on Sunday on Telegram that one attack damaged the city's energy and heating infrastructure. He said repair work was under way and also reported damage to buildings and vehicles.
In the neighbouring Voronezh region, which borders Belgorod to the east, Governor Alexander Gusev also reported missile and drone alerts, noting that air defences had intercepted some drones. A fire at a municipal facility was quickly extinguished, though unconfirmed social media reports suggested that the city's combined heat and power plant had been hit.
Gusev warned that parts of Voronezh could face temporary power outages and fluctuations in heating. He also reported damage to buildings at a construction company and several vehicles. Residents were urged to take shelter in bunkers as a precaution. In the city of Taganrog in the Rostov region, there were also reports on social media of explosion noises and power outages.
Meanwhile, Ukraine reported dozens of attacks after what it said was one of the most severe Russian missile and drone attacks on its energy infrastructure since the start of the war. Of 69 drone attacks, 34 were repelled, according to Ukrainian authorities.
