Dozens killed as catastrophic floods hit southern Thailand, Indonesia

Nov 27, 2025

Bangkok [Thailand], November 27: Catastrophic floods have affected millions of people in Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia.
At least 33 people have been killed due to severe flooding in southern Thailand, the Bangkok Post newspaper reported on Wednesday, citing a government spokesman.
More than 2.5 million people have been affected in Thailand alone after torrential rain, the newspaper reported.
According to university professor and climate change expert Seree Supratid, it could take weeks for floodwaters to recede from the particularly hard-hit district of Hat Yai on the border with Malaysia. "People are stranded on rooftops, vehicles are submerged, and vulnerable groups are pleading for help," Supratid told the Bangkok Post. (DPA)
