Developing Vietnam - China relations increasingly strong

Beijing [China], September 2: At the invitation of General Secretary of the Communist Party of China and President Xi Jinping, President Liang Qiang attended the 80th anniversary of the world people's victory over fascism and worked in China from September 2-4.
This is President Luong Cuong 's first working trip to China as President, taking place in the context of 2025 being the year of humanistic exchange, celebrating the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and China (1950 - 2025), contributing to the development of the relationship between the two countries increasingly solid, substantive and effective. At the same time, attending the 80th anniversary of the victory over fascism held by the world's people in China is also an opportunity for Vietnam to affirm its voice of responsibility for world peace, security and development.
On September 3, China will hold a ceremony to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the victory over fascism in World War II. The event will include a large-scale military parade at Tiananmen Square, the capital of Beijing.

Anniversary of the World People's Victory over Fascism held in China aims to demonstrate Vietnam's responsible voice and support for the efforts of the world's people for peace, security and development.
In addition to attending the 80th anniversary celebration of the world people's victory over fascism, President Luong Cuong also had bilateral activities in China during this working trip.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Vu said that President Luong Cuong is expected to hold talks and meetings with key Chinese leaders. This is an opportunity for the leaders of the two countries to continue consolidating and realizing the high-level common perception on further enhancing political trust, promoting mutually beneficial substantive cooperation in various fields between the two countries, as well as contributing to the common development of the region and the world.
Over the years, trade cooperation has always been a bright spot in bilateral relations. Vietnam has been China's largest trading partner in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) for many years and has now become China's fourth largest trading partner in the world (after the US, Japan, and South Korea). Bilateral trade turnover between Vietnam and China in 2024 reached 205.2 billion USD; from January to July this year it reached 136.47 billion USD.
Regarding investment, cumulatively up to the end of January 2025, China's total registered FDI capital in Vietnam was 31.26 billion USD with 5,195 valid projects, ranking 6th out of 149 countries and territories investing in Vietnam. In 2024 alone, China ranked first in the number of newly licensed projects with 955 projects, ranked 3rd out of 110 investment partners in Vietnam in terms of capital with 4.73 billion USD (an increase of more than 3.05%); in the first 7 months of 2025, China ranked first in the number of new investment projects with 695 projects and ranked 2nd in total registered capital with 2.27 billion USD (after Singapore).
Regarding tourism, in 2024, Vietnam will welcome 3.74 million Chinese visitors, an increase of 114% compared to 2023, accounting for 21.26% of the total number of international visitors to Vietnam, ranking second after South Korea. In the first 7 months of 2025, Vietnam welcomed more than 3.1 million Chinese visitors to Vietnam, accounting for 25.5% of the total number of international visitors to Vietnam, ranking first in the total number of international visitors to Vietnam. In addition, people-to-people exchanges, educational and cultural cooperation between the two countries have been vibrant in recent times.
During the working trip, President Luong Cuong is expected to have meetings with leaders of countries and international organizations attending the Anniversary Ceremony. This is also an important occasion for Vietnam to exchange and promote friendship and practical, multifaceted cooperation with important partners in the region and internationally, widely convey images and information about the achievements in socio-economic development after 80 years of the country's founding, thereby spreading a positive and trustworthy message about the country and people of Vietnam.
