Mar 30, 2025

Paris [France], March 30: A notorious Corsican mafia boss was shot dead on his doorstep in Bastia on Saturday morning.
An investigation has been opened into the murder of an organized crime gang member and criminal association, the public prosecutor's office confirmed to the Corse Matin newspaper.
The victim, known to the judicial authorities, died from his gunshot wounds after being shot on his doorstep, reports said. No further details were initially released.
France and Corsica in particular have repeatedly been the scene of violent crimes.
The Corse Matin said the man who was killed was a founding member of the Brise de mer gang, which dominated organized crime on the island for almost 30 years.
If the suspicion is confirmed, the shooting would be the fifth act of retaliation in Corsica this year. (DPA)
