6 arrested in Bulgaria's crackdown on financial crimes

Sofia [Bulgaria], January 25: Bulgarian law enforcement officers have arrested six people suspected of crimes against Luxembourg's financial system, authorities said on Friday.
According to the Bulgarian Ministry of Interior, the police operation was carried out on Thursday in several districts in the country, following a European investigation order issued by Luxembourg.
"They are suspected of being part of an organized crime group operating in Luxembourg and Spain," the ministry said.
It also said that during the preparation and implementation of the police operation, daily contact was maintained with Luxembourg's authorities, and an expert team from the Luxembourg police was directly involved.
So far, it has been established that the group has caused financial damage of over 62 million euros (65 million U.S. dollars), the ministry said.
