2 killed in car-train collision in SW Poland

Warsaw [Poland], December 22: Two people were killed on Sunday when a car collided with a passenger train at a railway crossing in Ziebice, southwestern Poland, Polish media reported.
The accident occurred at a railway crossing on Provincial Road No. 385, where a car drove into the path of an oncoming train at a crossing equipped with barriers. The victims, a woman and a man, were traveling in the car. No injuries were reported among the train passengers, the Polish Press Agency (PAP) said.
Police said that Provincial Road No. 385 has since been reopened to traffic. Rail services on the route were suspended during the investigation, and replacement transport was arranged.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation, with authorities analyzing recordings to determine whether the barriers were lowered at the time of the collision.
