Jan 02, 2023

Brasilia [Brazil], January 2: Leftist Luis Inacio Lula da Silva (Luiz Inacio) was sworn in as the president of Brazil at a ceremony in the parliament.
Da Silva, or just Lula as Brazilians call him, succeeded far-right President Jair Bolsonaro, who left the country two days before the end of his term, boycotting the inauguration.
Lula defeated Bolsonaro, 77, in elections held in October.
He had two presidential mandates (2003-2010).
