Incessant rains lash parts of Bangladeshi capital

Dhaka [Bangladesh],September 15: Moderate to heavy rains lashed parts of the Bangladeshi capital Dhaka on Wednesday, inundating low-lying areas and disrupting road traffic.
Roads, lanes and by-lanes in parts of the city of more than 20 million people went under ankle-to-knee deep water, causing immense hardship to commuters.
The country's meteorological office said it recorded 53 mm rainfall in Dhaka in the last 24 hours till 6:00 a.m. local time on Wednesday morning. There was also moderate to heavy rains across Bangladesh, as monsoon is active over the country.
Dhaka is likely to witness another wet day as the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has predicted moderate to heavy rains in the city and suburbs, with a possibility of extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places in the next 24 hours.
