Germany finds it difficult to recruit spies in the post-Covid-19 era

May 24, 2023

Berlin [Germany], May 24: Reuters on May 23 reported that the director of Germany's Federal Intelligence Service (BND) Bruno Kahl said he was having difficulty recruiting personnel in the post-Covid-19 pandemic.
The reason is because the potential candidate wants to work from home and doesn't want to leave his cell phone.
According to Mr. Kahl, for security purposes, working remotely and using mobile phones is almost impossible in the BND. He said that the conditions that were once considered "obvious" from employers have now been reversed, and without enough staff, the intelligence force will be seriously short as many employees are about to retire. according to The Guardian .
In contrast to Germany, some Western intelligence agencies have relaxed workplace regulations. While the UK has pledged to give employees flexibility in the workplace, the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) is considering giving some teams remote work.
