"Barbarian" tops North American box office on opening weekend

Los Angeles [US], September 12: Disney's presentation of 20th Century Studios and New Regency's horror film "Barbarian" topped the North American box office with about 10 million U.S. dollars on its opening weekend, showed figures from the measurement firm Comscore on Sunday.
Written and directed by Zach Cregger, "Barbarian" stars Georgina Campbell, Bill Skarsgard and Justin Long.
The film follows a young woman who finds out the house she rented was double-booked with a strange man. Against her better judgement, she decides to spend the evening, but soon discovers that there's a lot more to fear than just an unexpected house guest.
Despite an average grade of "C+" on an A+ to F scale from audiences polled by the market research firm CinemaScore, the well-reviewed film holds an approval rating of 92 percent based on 93 reviews to date on the review-aggregation website Rotten Tomatoes.
In a distant second place, Disney's presentation of Star Studios' Indian fantasy film "Brahmastra Part 1: Shiva" opened this weekend in North America with 4.4 million dollars.
Sony Pictures' action comedy film "Bullet Train" came in third with 3.25 million dollars on its sixth weekend for a North American total of 92.54 million dollars.
