May 25, 2023

Islamabad [Pakistan], May 25: At least four people, including soldiers, were killed in a suicide blast at a security checkpoint in north-western Pakistan on Wednesday. At least two soldiers, a policeman, and a civilian were killed, RasoolDaraz, a local police officer told DPA. "It was a suicide attack and the bomber blew himself up during a road check," Daraz said. Three people were wounded in the bombing at the security checkpoint in the North Waziristan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
The mountainous region of North Waziristan had long served as a base for Islamist militants linked to al-Qaeda before they were chased out in a series of offensives. The latest attack comes a day after militants killed six security guards at an oil exploration site run by the Hungarian company MOL.
Tehreek-e-Taliban pakistan (TTP) or pakistani Taliban has claimed responsibility for Tuesday's attack. (DPA)
